Castillo de Javier Reserva Navarra 2006

Navarra DO

A terrific, one-off parcel of wonderfully mature Reserva. You don’t often come across one that’s 13 years old and definitely not one at such a good price. Tempranillo with dashes of Cabernet and Garnacha, aged long in oak, silky, rich and lavish.

Silky ripe, mature summer berries, raisins and laced with spice

Aroma

Autumn leaves, berry fruit, cedar, wood, leather

This is a 'thank you' parcel of wine from one of our Buyer, Beth's, strongest Rioja friendships. As a consequence, it's particularly well priced, especially when you consider it's a superb Reserva with 13 years' maturity. This family recently bought an estate over the border in Navarra. Within it, deep underground, they discovered stocks of some exciting old vintages in great condition. They offered this superb 2006 Reserva at a really impressive price and Beth snapped up the opportunity. She knew our Rioja devotees would love it. It’s largely Tempranillo, blended with portions of Cabernet and Garnacha, aged for 12 months in barrel and many years in bottle. Ideal with tapas, chicken and roasted vegetables, and totally charming solo.
