Crafted by top winemaker Juan Antonio Leza, this is an elegant, deep flavoured Reserva. It has layer upon layer of mature berry fruit, woven through by toasty spice from lengthy oak ageing. Even now it has lovely freshness too, and a Gold medal!

In the most NW corner of Rioja, the flatter land starts rising up into soaring mountains. It's here you'll find the start of the Rioja Alta vineyards – a fine enclave of Spain’s greatest region. There extra altitude freshens as well as ripens grapes slowly to full flavoured perfection. Since most Rioja wines blend grapes from across the region you almost never see Rioja Alta on labels. In fact, there are only two villages permitted to add it. In one you'll find a winery founded by consultant Juan Antonio Leza's father, the grapes all supplied by growers he counts as family or friends. From 40 year old vineyards up to 600 metres altitude, this Reserva has elegance, freshness and rich layers of complexity. For drinking now, decant early.

"Enjoy layers of complex flavour and surprising freshness in this great Reserva from Rioja Alta" Jean-Marc Sauboua
