Cala Rey brings together two zingy grapes that, separately, make stunning whites. But in the same bottle sing even louder and more brightly! Lemony Verdejo, a star of NW Spain, joins with Sauvignon Blanc to produce green apple, herb and citrus notes.

Cala Rey is a terrific combination of two dazzling grapes – Sauvignon and Verdejo. It's creation of a new winery, founded in 2017 in Castilla La Mancha. Tomasso Ciampoli simply fell in love with the Alpera area and a particular 25-hectare plot of ancient vines. He decided then was the moment to revive the family's long-held tradition of making wine. From the age of four, he'd help his grandfather craft a wine that was proudly drunk by the family at every celebration. Now he's put his knowledge to good use with this dazzling white and the help of his winemaker, Diego Lopez. The vines are up to 100 years old, delving down deep to find nourishment. It all adds up to delicious, bright flavour. A zesty white that's perfect solo or with tapas.

"If you enjoy Sauvignon, you're going to love Verdejo. More texture and peachiness, thrilling zing" Olly Smith
