Awards for the Boschendal winery are numerous, with scores of medals, trophies and top marks each year. Founed 330 years ago, this historic property lies between Franschhoek and Stellenbosch. Careful restoration over the last decade has made it a top tourist destination, as well as a terrific place to search out great wine, both red and white. Flora and fauna conservation is a priority as well. This muscular, yet supple Cabernet was born from the premium slopes of Stellenbosch, a region recognised as the ‘kingdom of Cabernet’. 16 months ageing in 30% new oak barrels has softened the tannins, adding delicious smoky notes. Enjoy this full-bodied, yet elegant red with a rich veggie casserole, stewed meats or simply a large glass and good book.
