Borsao is an impressive winery located in Campo de Borja, a small wine region just east of Rioja. The team there are one of the leading Garnacha producers in the world. Why? The combination of the stony soils, relatively high altitude and old vines means yields are tiny with small berries giving concentrated fruit flavours. What’s more, the vines are harvested by hand so only the finest grapes arrive in the cellar. This 2014 Reserva blends the rich, generous fruit of the Garnacha grape with the silkiness of Tempranillo and the elegance of Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in fine French oak barrels, there’s a creaminess of texture and gentle hints of spice which are well integrated with the mature fruit. Enjoy with herby roast lamb or moussaka.
