From a 5-star vintage, this is a superb Crozes Hermitage from a 5-star family estate. Since 2004 the domaine’s been run by the renowned Michel Chapoutier. As critic Jeb Dunnock says, all are "extremely high quality" and "represent screaming values".

Founded in 1946, Domaine Ferraton has always been a highly regarded estate. Yet since the Chapoutiers have come on board quality has rocketed. The Ferraton family started working with Michel Chapoutier in 1998, the latter buying the estate outright in 2004, but running it very much as an independent concern, with the family still at the helm. Oenologist Damien Brisset is also part of the domaine’s ‘super team’, and the result is some really impressive wines. Add in the 5-Star quality of the 2018 vintage and grapes produced to the highest biodynamic standards, and you’ll understand the sumptuous richness of this fine Syrah. Ageing in 25% new barrels, the oak is well integrated. Decant early to let all the flavours open out. Superb with lamb.

"Herbal edge to this full-bodied wine's cassis and blackberry fruit. Oak melts nicely into the core" Joe Czerwinski
