If you’re a fan of Aussie wine, you’ll probably have seen a cleanskin or two. But it’s rare to come across one crafted from the fruit of a single vineyard. And although we can’t name its winery, the single vineyard provenance of this luscious Shiraz means it is a quality wine made in tiny quantities. But that’s perhaps not too surprising for Langhorne Creek, a region known as Australia’s home of the small family winery. It’s also famous for the rich quality of its finest Shiraz, particularly evident in examples from the 2017 vintage. Conditions that year produced a long, slow ripening time to give the perfect combination of fruit flavour, aroma and velvety tannins for ageing. Fruity with lovely length, it’s great with roasts and cheeses.
