Ashcombe Hill Rosé 2017

English Regional Wine

This gorgeous rosé was made by John Worontschak, who was mentored by Australian winemaking legend Brian Croser. It certainly bursts with luscious summer fruit but in its own, very English way! We love wines from Denbies – and this is one of the best.

Just the thing for an English country garden (or any empty glass on a hot day!) Ashcombe Hill Rosé is bright, fresh and brimful of juicy red berry fruit! It’s made from Rondo, with a splash of Dornfelder. Rondo is a dark skinned grape perfect for the English climate because it ripens early to make a lovely, soft, fruity wine. And Dornfelder brings plenty of richness and colour. Did you know there were 38 vineyards listed in the Domesday Book completed in 1086? Now there are over 400, and Denbies, with 107 hectares near Dorking in Surrey, is the UK’s largest single estate vineyard. In 2010 they won Gold for their rosé at the International Wine Challenge, and it’s been a star ever since! Sip it solo or pair with cold meats and a crisp salad.
