If your malts have to be intense, powerfully flavoured, and bottled at cask strength without chill filtering, Corryvreckan is for you. Named after a terrifying tidal whirlpool off the north of the island, this Islay malt is not for the faint hearted.

Tasting notes
Complex, dense and savoury with hints of coffee and dark fruit
Aroma
Classic brackish notes layered with cherry and chocolate
Corryvreckan is a beautifully balanced assault to the senses. Unashamedly Islay, this brooding, brackish sea monster of a spirit is a worthy namesake of that infamous nautical nightmare. As soon as you uncork the bottle, the aromas release a siren’s promise of near unfathomable depths of flavour. The initial attack of tarry ropes and linseed oil give way to hints of tangy seaweed, sweet vanilla and blueberry, and even notes of menthol. And a sip reveals savoury notes of pepper sauce, layered with thick espresso, melted dark fruits and almonds. Adding a splash of spring water is highly recommended to bring down the fiery cask strength. And it will reward you with previously hidden wafts of fresh violets and star anise. Truly spectacular.
