More information
The elegance and intensity of this wine come from the hand picked Tempranillo grapes that are grown at 700 metres altitude on old vines. The vineyards chill down at night, even in summer, thereby lengthening the ripening period and enhancing aromatics and depth of flavour. Add in the expertise and classic training of Jean-Marc Sauboua, who started his training at First Growth Château Haut Brion, and it’s no surprise Altos wines have won many top awards. For this fine 2016 he blended the best cuvées of the vintage to achieve a perfect balance of fruit and spice, then aged the wine for two years in nearly all French oak, one third of which was new. With its dark cherry and plum flavours and toasty oak, the Reserva is superb with game or lamb.
