Alessandro Gallici Frizzante NV

Vino Bianco

Global sales of Prosecco have rocketed, as have prices, while harvests have been small. So we went to see our old friend Alessandro and tasted his latest gem. Prosecco’s Glera grape with a drop of Chardonnay. Result: a delicious, gentle frizzante.

When you ask Alessandro Gallici if he comes from a family of winemakers, he laughs gently at the notion – no, his father was a truck driver. However, on a bit of land in Friuli his family had a few rows of vines that had been theirs for generations, and they vinified the fruit for their own consumption. All this fascinated Alessandro, and wine became his chosen career. Since 2002 we have built a great partnership with him and he keeps creating terrific new wines for us. For this fizz Alessandro carefully selected premium Glera grapes with a drop of Chardonnay. In Champagne, this would add to the price – in the Veneto this addition means it must be labelled frizzante. Whatever, it delivers delicate citrus, tropical fruit with gentle bubbles.
