This Moldovan Sauvignon surprises and delights in equal measure. Zingy and refreshing but with amazing finesse for the money, it’s a fully fledged customer favourite, reflecting ideal wine growing conditions. Citrusy, crisp and stony fresh.

Wine critics may not mention Marlborough, Moldova and the Loire in the same breath, but thanks to the brilliance of this Sauvignon that might change. Like both other star Sauvignon regions, Codru in Moldova has a long, slow ripening season ideal for this grape. Its biting cold winds keep the grapes healthy and mean the vineyards can easily be grown organically. Albastrele is made with hand-picked grapes from the Tvarditsa Estate at an award winning cellar equipped for producing whistle clean, modern whites. Over the years, winemaker Vladimir Lazariuc has made us a string of award winning vintages. With its crisp, limey, stony character, Albastrele is truly impressive. It makes an elegant aperitif or match for grilled white fish or salads.
