Our Buyer Beth has a superb network of contacts in Spain. That’s why she’s always first to hear about a one-off parcel needing a home. This is one from a family estate, established 50 years ago in Galicia's top performing regions – Rías Baixas, Ribeiro and Ribeira Sacra. Rías Baixas is a great region for white wines and its star white grape is Albariño. The variety produces wines that are deliciously zingy and citrusy, with an edge of creamy nutty richness. Like Sauvignon Blanc, but with lots more character. This 2019 is drinking beautifully now and has a lovely ripe peach character, with a creaminess from lees ageing and lots of lemony zip. Ultra refreshing, with the body to partner all sorts of seafood, chicken or a vegetable risotto.

"Albariño is a fantastic white grape. In fact, it is Spain’s best by miles" Matthew Jukes
