Chat with Vinny
A superb, sleek, yet muscular Premier Cru from Nuits Saint Georges and this brilliant biodynamic family estate. 2016 was a first class vintage but yields were decimated to 14hl/ha, so there aren’t many bottles. Dark cherry, red berry and dense spice.
Tasting notes
Firm tannins generously covered by crisp red cherry and vanilla spice
Aroma
Bright red cherry, spice, lemon peel and earthy hints and violets
More information
Vougeraie is the superb Boisset family estate. In 1961 Jean-Claude Boisset purchased Gevrey’s Les Evocelles, and since then they’ve added vineyards across 36 appellations, covering 42 hectares of premium land. They brought the vineyards together in one estate in 1999 to make Domaine de la Vougeraie. Large for Burgundy, but there’s no compromise in quality. Every plot is managed organically and biodynamically for a purer expression of the vines’ terroir. Les Corvées Pagets lies at 240 metres on the pebbly reddish clay soils at the base of the Combe de la Serrée slope. Tiny yields produce dense fruit, while whole bunch fermentation, natural yeasts and 16 months in French oak casks lends a spice edge to this firm red. Decant early or cellar.
