Great Sancerre is about more than just crisp Sauvignon Blanc, it’s about ‘place’ – and that’s exactly what critics have loved about this fine white. The gently sloping vineyards that surround Sancerre’s central volcanic hill bring out a steely intensity and raciness that’s unique to the region. Dating back to the early 19th century and now owned by Joël and Sylvie Cirotte, Domaine La Croix Saint Laurent is a small family property in the village of Bué. Here you’ll find some of Sancerre’s best vineyards, including Le Chêne Marchand – a limestone rich patch of land with a gentle south facing aspect, perfect for bringing out maximum finesse in the Sauvignon grape. This top vintage Sancerre is a classic with goat’s cheese or fine seafood.
