Way back, in 1838, John Reynell and Thomas Hardy - iconic names now in Australia's world of wine - planted the first vines in the McLaren Vale. This rich, mature, satin-smooth Cabernet is a celebration of that great event. Since then, the McLaren has proved itself as one of the country's finest wine regions, with Cabernet and Shiraz being its top grapes. It's not the largest appellation either, with only about 75 cellars and most of those smaller, family-run estates. This is a stand out parcel from one, now with four years' age. An opportunistic vat simply too good to pass by. You don't often get the chance to enjoy a great Aussie Cab with that sort of maturity. And it has years in it yet! A great steak or roast lamb red or a rich moussaka.
