The effort that goes into making a single bottle of Sauternes is astonishing, making the sensational Cha^teau Coutet amazing value for money. This Barsac property is a 1er Grand Cru Classe´ for good reason, yet being one of the largest in Barsac, offers relative value. Its sweet wines are truly exceptional – intense, honeyed, layered, with a precision like seam of searing freshness. Barsac wine is distinguished from other Sauternes in being drier with a lighter body. Yet, this is full of dried apricot, buttered citrus, and honey layers – an opulent sweet wine with a beautiful finish. And in a vintage like the finesse-filled 2017, there's never been so much to enjoy about this half-bottle sized gem, awarded 95-97 by Wine Enthusiast.
