At Château La Clarière they're blessed with 50 different vineyard plots, all ideally situated on the superb limestone plateau from where both Saint-Émilion’s and Castillon Côtes de Bordeaux’s finest wines hail.
The grapes for Enclos de la Clarière come from a single vineyard, literally six metres from Saint-Émilion’s priciest Grands Crus Classés. It’s a stunning vineyard surrounded by hedgerows, shrubs and dotted with trees – its most biodiverse; farmed organically too. That results in grapes of immense depth and ripeness, yet with enough grip and freshness to lend classic structure.
Enclos is all Merlot, carefully fermented on the La Clarière estate, with a year’s ageing in part new and part seasoned French oak barrels. A very fine, velvety claret, open early and preferably decant. It will make a very handsome partner to roast red meats or a cheeseboard.

\n\nFor this wine, premium parcels of spicy Shiraz and cassis-scented Cabernet Sauvignon were sourced from vineyards along Central Victoria’s Goulburn River. The river moderates the climate, so it’s cooler than expected – this slows ripening and preserves freshness. Grapes are then picked in the cool of the night to lock in delicate aromas and flavours.
\n\nIn the cellar, the wine is treated to long, luxurious ageing in finest oak barrels. This lends richness and depth of flavour. The result? A berry-laden, richly concentrated red layered with warming spice, smooth tannins and a juicy finish. Ideal for sharing with loved ones, or pair with prime steak, roast lamb or other hearty dishes.
