It's made by an award-winning family winery, who were some of the first pioneers of the Marlborough region. Phil and Chris Rose founded the estate back in 1978, now their five children have joined them, so it's very much a family affair.

This special cuvée was first created for us by Andrew McPherson as a tribute to his mother, Doreen. Andrew wanted to honour the woman who embodied Australia’s pioneering spirit and devotion to her family.

For this wine, premium parcels of spicy Shiraz and cassis-scented Cabernet Sauvignon were sourced from vineyards along Central Victoria’s Goulburn River. The river moderates the climate, so it’s cooler than expected – this slows ripening and preserves freshness. Grapes are then picked in the cool of the night to lock in delicate aromas and flavours.

In the cellar, the wine is treated to long, luxurious ageing in finest oak barrels. This lends richness and depth of flavour. The result? The word 'Nacional' is reserved for treasures that fly the flag for Portugal. Touriga Nacional certainly does that. This wine comes from Casa Ermelinda Freitas, an estate founded a century ago and proud to have been run by three generations of women. The highly awarded Leonor Freitas is in charge today, with her daughter, Joana, next in line.

A decade ago the family bought Senhor Fava's vineyard, with its prized sandy soils. He'd always been one of their top growers, but wanted to retire, so they named this wine, made from its grapes, in his honour.

This special edition is a Carignan-Grenache blend made from grapes taken from the very oldest vines – some over 100 years in age – grown on the finest slate soils of Maury in the Roussillon. As you might imagine, yields are tiny, which accounts for the incredible depth of colour and intensity of flavour.

Half of the wine is aged in oak cask for six months to lend a luxurious layer of complexity. This is a powerful red, beautifully balanced and terrifically long with herbal spice nuances. Slips down nicely on its own, or with rich game pie.

Introducing Les Deux Vallées Savennières from a small family property owned by the Socheleau family. Having started as apple growers, they are relatively new to wine, buying Domaine Les Deux Vallées in 2001 with proceeds from selling their apple orchards.

One of the first things they did was to rip out the plantings of Sauvignon and Chardonnay and replant them with Chenin Blanc. Savennières is fine wine territory for Chenin and produces some of the world's finest and most age-worthy examples.

In 2022, Philippe was awarded 'Loire Winemaker of the Year'. Their vineyards lie on two main terroirs (hence the name Les Deux Vallées). The first is between the Loire and the Layon; the second is around the village of Saint Lambert du Latay. Aged on fine lees for six months, this is rich, rounded, yet intensely citrusy. A superb dinner party wine.

We're delighted to have joined forces with the internationally respected Royal Botanic Gardens, Kew, home to the largest living plant collection on the planet. Together we have produced a small range of wines that champion little-known grape varieties.

Both parties champion biodiversity and work with nature to create beautiful things. In this case, a wine made from the almost unheard of Albillo grape. There’s little of it planted and most of that is grown along the banks of the river Pisuerga in Spain’s Castilla y León in small family vineyards known as majuelos.

Winemaker Mark Nairn has picked the very best grapes to make with its notes of citrus and blossom. Six months lees-ageing has added to the wine’s roundness. A great white wine to serve with chicken dishes or creamy savoury pancakes.
