The spirits & liqueur
A gorgeously rich and mellow Golden rum – the XO from this fine estate. Its original sugar plantation and distillery were first acquired by William Sandiford in the early 18th century. In 1747 the property passed into the hands of John Sober(!), who appointed Sir John Gay Alleyne as manager. So successful was Sir John that the estate was renamed Mount Gay. Now it is owned by Rémy Cointreau and, benefiting greatly from this company’s worldwide network, Mount Gay Rum has become very popular all around the globe. The Golden XO is matured for up to 17 years in American whiskey, bourbon and cognac casks to lend layers of luscious richness and layered complexity. A great tipple that has won five Gold medals.
