Within Marlborough’s Awatere Valley, there’s a group of growers who love nothing more than a local cricket match, finished by a few glasses of Sauvignon. The only suitable pitch, however, is when the river runs dry. Rare! A juicy, tropical white.

Light tropical fruit, grassy freshness with citrus notes and a mineral edge – all the attributes of Dry Lake Cricket Club Sauvignon. It’s what the wine growers will choose when they’re lucky enough to hold a local match ... when the river runs dry and reveals their only cricket pitch! This white is from excellent 2023 vintage and uses handpicked grapes from family vineyards in the prized Awatere Valley. Planted on have some of New Zealand’s oldest soils and lying close to the sea, the vines bear the brunt of strong ocean winds, which ensure excellent slow ripening, but also make it one of Marlborough’s driest area – difficult for growers, great for packing flavour into the wine. A white made for seafood and great with spicy Asian cuisine.
