Pure, northern Rhône Syrah, from a top appellation, with rich, black fruit and dark spice. It's been declassified to a Vin de France due to the large, but deliciously ripe vintage. A fabulous red our buyer snapped up: "very Rhône, dark and spicy."

In 2021, the steep terraces of this superb Crozes Hermitage estate, overlooking the Rhône river, were hit by severe spring frosts. No grapes were harvested at all from these superb vineyards. The silver lining, however, was rested vines which produced a larger crop than permitted in the much more fortunate, ripe 2022 vintage. This terrific estate had no option but to declassify a portion of the grapes. Great news for customers! Our buyer Mark tasted the wine, pure Syrah, and enthused, "it is very good indeed, very Rhône, dark and spicy". We can't, of course, name this fine domaine, so we've labelled the wine, appropriately as L'Expression Syrah. For drinking now, it's best opened early and decanted. An exceptional red, great with lamb.
