Marianne Berry makes famously powerful, earthy, plum and mocha-laden claret from some of the oldest vines in Lalande de Pomerol - a haven of affordable quality (compared to neighbouring Pomerol) provided you know where to look.

Marianne claims that extra barrel ageing to the strains of Mozart is her secret for this hugely enjoyable, very moreish red - the rich, plummy Merlot flavour is given added complexity thanks to the addition of small amounts of Cabernets Sauvignon and Franc, plus a dash of Malbec.

Deep ruby in colour, heady aromas of fragrant, fresh brambles, this is smooth and rounded, with lots of black fruit flavours. Soft, silky tannins and a long finish make Clos de l'Eglise classic dinner party wine. Extremely succulent.
