Bordeaux is one of the world's most famous winemaking regions, producing bottles ranging from everyday drinking to some of the most luxurious, exotic, and expensive on the planet - and in the superb 2009 vintage quality was exceptional across the board. Owned by royal photographer Anwar Hussein, Château Fontcaille Bellevue has beautifully tended vineyards based on sandy, gravelly soil - providing excellent drainage and ensuring the concentration of the fruit.Anwar's ripe, plummy Merlot rich claret never fails to delight. His lush 2009 was given a traditional fermentation to extract plenty of flavour and bottled without oak ageing to allow the quality of the fruit to shine. Enjoy with red meats, roasts, rich casseroles and mushroom dishes.
